Maidenhead Mosque Fundraiser Conquers Yorkshire Three Peaks

On Saturday 26th August, 36 dedicated Maidenhead Mosque community members took on the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, ascending over 5,200 feet across a 25-mile trek. Their mission? To raise funds for the upcoming new Islamic Community Centre. Talk about taking fundraising to new heights!

Our intrepid climbers faced slippery slopes and treacherous trails, but they persevered up peaks that sounded straight from a Lord of the Rings novel – Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside (ok, Whernside does kind of sound like a hobbit village). After 12+ hours of ascent, three brilliant summits, countless Instagram breaks for triumphant mountaintop selfies, and a completed Netflix series, our Three Peaks squad conquered this crazy challenge.

A staggering £39,000 raised and counting!

Driven by the goal of raising £25,000 to support the Islamic Trust’s construction of expanded facilities, the team far exceeded expectations by securing over £39,000 in donations thus far. Their exceptional effort demonstrated the community’s unwavering commitment to building a Centre that will serve diverse needs – from youth programs and social services to educational offerings and more.

I would like to congratulate all the participants for bringing the energy, love, commitment, and creating a once in a lifetime memory.

I could not be any prouder on how we gave our all and with encouragement, support and banter on show.

The Islamic Trust Maidenhead is tremendously grateful for the outpouring of support from those who sponsored our participants in this challenging endeavour. The funds gathered will help ensure the new Centre can fully deliver on its mission to serve members across generations.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like the Islamic Trust Maidenhead to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that the Islamic Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

Donation Total: £10.00

We offer our warm congratulations to the Yorkshire Three Peaks team led by our own Shafiq Khan who took it upon himself to organise this challenge. The team’s strength and determination are an inspiration.
